July 2003 - the latest Furness Tradition Folklore Festival was held in Ulverston, and yet another epic contest between Fifi and the Black Noir took place. This was a very special occasion, as Uncle Tim and Daisy were delighted to welcome Fernando Lucena, a Peruvian journalist sent specially from London to cover this latest event, as part of his research on flea circuses. Gosh, he was really itching to see Fifi. Here's Fernando recording the performance (they're a jolly lot, these Peruvians!)
Anyway, on to the performance. Firstly, here's a picture of the race track, as Uncle Tim points out the various features and obstacles.
More mischief here from the sideways-firing water-pistol - bad luck Daisy!
Excuse me madam, but we seem to have lost one of our fleas - could you scratch your head and think if you've seen it by any chance?
The moment Uncle Tim and Daisy dread - the arrival of the Black Noir, most evil flea in the world!
Oh no! Fifi's been knocked down by the Black Noir. As she lays injured on the track, Uncle Tim gasps in horror, the children look on in worry, and its all too much for the couple in the background!
But Fifi recovers again, and it's all over, with triumph for Fifi over the Black Noir once more! |
